2013 Healthcare Professional Survey
Did you know that Healthcare professionals are moving to digital content for information on the diagnosis and treatment of patients, as well as general health issues?
How well do you think your doctors understand the 2014 Universal Healthcare Coverage (Sistem Jaminan Sosial Nasional/SJSN)?
The latest survey by Edelman Indonesia and the Public Health Faculty of the University of Gadjah Mada puts a spotlight on the communication behavior of General Practitioners (GPs) and Specialists when they seek and disseminate specific information. It also reveals which online channels these healthcare professionals use most frequently.
The survey also gathered information on the quality of their interactions with patients, as well as their knowledge of Universal Healthcare Coverage (UHC).
421 GPs and Specialists in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and Medan were interviewed for the survey during 05 Nov-14 Dec 2012. According to the interviews, 4 in 5 doctors in Jakarta and 3 in 4 doctors in other cities use the Internet on the job. To what extent do you think they scour Facebook and YouTube for information on the diagnosis and treatment of patients, as well as general health issues? You can find out the answer in our survey.
Healthcare professionals can all benefit from accurate health information that can be readily accessed online. They, just like most of us, are becoming much more digitally savvy, and the pharmaceutical industry must rise to meet this challenge.
This survey also discovered that fewer than half of the GPs and Specialists in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and Medan understand the policy mechanics of the upcoming Universal Healthcare Coverage scheme. This is a finding that calls for a more effective public campaign of the scheme to ensure its success.
The 2013 Healthcare Professional Survey will be launched on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 through a series of discussions with various stakeholders.
